We've collected a set of frequently-asked questions customers had about their photoshoots, along with some answers - we hope this might help you if you have any similar questions.

What type of pet photoshoots do you offer?

We offer outdoor photoshoots, where we have the choice of a variety of natural backgrounds, depending on the season and the weather. We also offer indoor studio photoshoots, where we use contemporary white or black backgrounds. Take a look at the types of pet photoshoots we offer for more detailed information.

What's better - outdoor or studio photoshoots?

This is so much down to your peronal preference - but here are some things to consider:

  • think about where you might display the artwork once you have it - if it's in the centre of a white wall does that make you think differently about the colour of the backgrounds in your photos compared to if it were on a coloured wall?
  • what's the current season and does that suggest an indoor or an outdoor location?
  • what's the weather likely to be doing?
  • if it's possible to get outside you'll have a wider variety of photos than indoors

Can I see some of your previous work?

We do a wide range of professional photography from pets, to families and adults - so if you'd like to see the quality of what we provide, why not take a look at some of these:

What if my dog is nervous?

We'll do what we do with all dogs - we'll be watchful of their mood and temperament, then we'll slowly interact with them until they trust us. With nervous dogs, as well as smaller dogs, we'll get down to a lower level and gently encourage them to interact. It will be very much at their pace. For us to create some great pictures we need your pets to be comfortable with us, so we'll work closely with you and your pet in a respectful way.

What if I want my dog to stay on its lead?

It's not a problem - we know certain dogs, especially younger ones, are more likely to be on a lead in public places. We're happy working with your dog on a lead, as long as you accept that the lead is probably going to be visible in the photos. If you want or need your dog to be on its lead the whole time, please use your most attractive collar and lead for the occasion.

However, we've worked with dogs in the past, where the owner has been anxious about not letting them off the lead, where we found a quiet location and worked with the owner to let their dog off the lead for a short period of time for some 'no-collar' photos. The dog was well behaved, the photos looked lovely and the owner was happy. But don't worry, we're not going to force you or your dog to do anything you're uncomfortable about.

What should I look for when hiring a pet photographer?

There's a wide range of things you should consider when you make this choice, including the following:

  • their attention to the visual detail of everything they do - look at many pages in their website
  • the quality of their work and whether it's as beautiful as it could be
  • the reviews and recommendations they've had from their actual customers

What time of day is best for a photoshoot?

A lot of it depends on your personal preference. Depending on the time of year and the weather the magical times of day can be early in the morning after sunrise and later in the day a couple of hours before sunset. Take a look at these blog posts, which will give you a better idea of the:

Can I bring others with me?

Of course, anyone who's going to be in the photo can come along! However, with pet photoshoots we suggest only those who will be in the photos should come along. The fewer people there around your pet, the less distracted they are and the better the photos will be that we create together.

How many photos do you take?

To be honest there's no fixed limit to how many photos we take. We want to give you a range of photos from which to chose, but we also don't want to swamp you with an endless choice. For example, we might take over 100 photos during the photoshoot - then shortlist this down to 30-40 great photos that we'll show you from which you can choose.

Where do I find more information on your prices?

Why not take a look here at what we offer, then get in touch if you'd like to discuss things further.

What should we wear?

If it's just you and your pet coming along, then advice for adults on what to wear should help. We've also got some advice on what to wear for a family photoshoot.

Where can I read what other customers have said about working with you?

We carried out a survey of more than 60 customers, where we asked them to give us their honest reviews about what it was like working with us, how they felt about the beautiful photos they received, whether they would recommend us and what their overall rating was for the service we provide to our customers. The results of this survey were that 97% of our customers gave us a rating of 8 out of 10 or higher, with all of them rating us at least 7. You can take a look at their customer reviews here.
